Inviting Oakville Home
House becomes home in this styling project that blends classic with cozy for a polished, family space with major character.
We were brought in to elevate this custom house into a welcoming family home with cohesive furnishings, wall finishes, pillows, art and accessories. Working with furniture boards, budget lists and ordering, we styled the rooms and created a flow throughout the house.
In the family room, our aim was a timeless ambiance that was still cozy and kid-friendly. We styled the existing fireplace and cabinets from the builder with accessories and greenery for a pop of colour and contrast. The full-length drapes emphasize the height of the room, while the rug and cushions build texture. For accents, we used brass detail and a marble-topped coffee table.
Since this is indeed a family room, we chose a sectional with durable fabric and added extra seating with the leather ottoman and swivel chairs. Most of the furniture for this room was from Zilli Home.
Both the living room and hallway are directly off the entryway, so we wanted them to be inviting and welcoming. The repeated pattern on the hallway mirror really draws the eye in, while the brass adds warmth.
The powder room has so much character, with a playfully patterned black and white wall covering. We incorporated a floating vanity with a live wood edge top and dark stone vessel sink for a harmonious blend of rustic and modern. There’s even room for a bit of art, on the photo wall with picture ledges.
In the master bedroom, we added shiplap, which adds an instantly classic look that’s still fresh and clean. The palette is light and relaxing, but we built up some luxurious texture with the upholstered bed and the accent texture of the area rug.
The clients’ daughter’s room is both sweet and sophisticated. The large print floral wall covering and pink accents add the right touch of femininity, with greenery and some playful pillows on the window reading nook for added colour.
